Meet James Hunter
James Hunter serves as an AmeriCorps Seniors volunteer in the Foster Grandparent Program in Kansas City, Mo. Prior to his volunteer service, Hunter served as a Private Second Class in the United States Army from 1976-1977. When he returned to civilian life, he struggled to adjust and fell into drug and alcohol addiction. After finding himself homeless, he sought help and turned his life around. Today, Hunter mentors 2nd grade students from an under-resourced community. Hunter’s service has rendered him a role model for the youngest members of his community and has allowed him to affect change well beyond his immediate surroundings.
